Want to donate? THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Any Extra Required school Supplies for students who need them would be Great!
Also, consider these options for supporting Accelerated Core:
---If you donate by Sunday and use the code LIFTOFF, we will get a matching donation from the Gates Foundation!

Learning Intention:
Get to know my classmates, my dear teacher, and a little about why this class exists.
Explain what Growth Mindset is.
Understand what showing respect for someone looks like.

Success Criteria:
I will know I've been successful if I:
know the names of at least 3 new students,
can remember my teacher's name,
can write a response to an 8th grader explaining what Growth Mindset is,
and can list 1-3 examples of how respect can be demonstrated in six different domains.

Agenda:
What is Accelerated Core and why does it exist?
Discuss with your partner: How do we learn? When was the last time you learned something new? How did you learn it?

The purpose of accelerated core & Ms. EL's academic journey.

Growth Mindset:

Debrief the video.  Practice defining Growth Mindset clearly.

Read over the card from your 8th grader.  Discuss it with your assigned partner.  Are there any similarities? Differences?

Write a response to your 8th grader.  Explain what you learned about Growth Mindset using clear language.  For a bonus point, explain how you might see this class differently based on this information.

When you're finished, turn it in to Ms. EL and begin the Student Inventory.

Fill out the Card of Fate:
Blank side--First & Last Name
Lined Side--Elementary school & teacher, favorite subject, desired superpower, and favorite candy

Pass up to your row leader

Read and discuss the course syllabus.

Partner Work: Class Expectations (Respect)

Lines and Blobs: Learn at least three NEW names.
