Pass up your Unit 2, Lesson 12 Packet
  • I can explain the writing prompt in my own words.
  • I can identify the focusing statement and analyze the structure of a model essay.
  • I can analyze how the model essay addresses the prompt.

1.     Opening
A.   Entry Task: Writer’s Reflection (10 minutes)

2.     Work Time
A.   Analyzing the Model Essay: Telling the Truth about Slavery (23 minutes)
B.   Annotating Your Excerpt Analysis Note-catcher (7 minutes)

3.     Closing and Assessment
A.   Exit Ticket: Closely Reading the Prompt (5 minutes)
B.  SS Classwork: Correct SS Workbook p. 99
C.  Complete "Processing" Assignment on p. 100
D.  Use Quizlet or flashcards or the book/workbook to review what you've learned so far.  Add new flashcards--I'd recommend 20+.
E.  When you finish, show Ms. EL your new Quizlet cards or flashcards, then go to the library or begin your homework.

4.     Homework
LA: Finish the Unit 2, Lesson 13 Packet.  If you need to, find more quotes for your essay. You should have two strong examples for each of the two positions/aspects of slavery before the next lesson.

SS: Read Textbook p. 172-175 and Complete Workbook p. 101-102

READ: Get parent signatures if you need them.  Read for 30+ minutes tonight.
