  • I can recognize the importance of sensory details and using nouns and verbs instead of adjectives in narrative writing. 
  • I can use feedback from my peers to make my story more clear and thoughtful. 
  • I can recognize and correct common sentence errors. 
1. Opening 
A. Entry Task: I Heart Revisions (10 minutes) 

2. Work Time 
A. Mid-Unit Assessment Part 2 (10 minutes) 
B. Sharpening Your Tools, Part 1: Show-not-Tell and Sensory Details (15 minutes) 

3. Closing and Assessment 
A. Beginning Your Storyboards (10 minutes) 

4. Homework for the week of March 13--20:
A. Read your independent reading book. You should read for at least 30 minutes per day.  If you need to read more to reach your AR goal, do so.
B. Read SS Textbook p. 204--221 and complete Workbook p. 123-136
 Note: Creating the mosaic mentioned on Workbook p. 122 is OPTIONAL and worth EXTRA CREDIT in social studies. 
C.  You will need to have the first draft of all storyboards & text completed for each page of your children's book, including the title page.  This will be a total of 8 storyboards in total.  Remember to number your pages. Please note--You do not need to do the Second Draft of the text this week.
For students who were absent, here is a link to the storyboards. If you don't have a printer at home, feel free to adapt the assignment to best meet your needs.
