Homework for Friday, March 20, 2020:
  • Read lots of good books this week. Plan to read at least 30 minutes per day.  Read more if you need to reach your AR goal or if you want to because reading is awesome.  You should be able to quiz at home now with AR; just remember to use the link on the school library's website.  Have integrity with this process (and all virtual learning where it might be easy to cheat): Your junior high grades don't count toward college, but your learning does.
  • --Here are some authors reading their children's books on various platforms this week.  Consider tuning in to one.  If the form gets weird, click "Sheet 1" for dates, times, and platform info.
  • Some of you have added pages to your Children's Book Plan in your Unit 3, Lesson 3 Packet.  If so, today is your day to complete any additional pages.  The Story Board template is here if you need it. If your story only has eight pages (including the title page) consider any pages you might like to add (click the links for info and examples):
    • An About the Author page
    • A dedication page
    • A back cover with artwork and, perhaps, a brief synopsis or reviews of your book
    • Any additional pages to the body of your story. (Consider numbering it 2.5, for example, if you want it to go between pages 2 and 3.)
    • IMPORTANT NOTE: In formatting your children's book, it is not necessary to have Frederick Douglass's words in quotation marks. (I know this feels weird, but think of it this way: the entire children's book is one long paraphrase of Douglass's words.  Give him credit in either the title of your book, the subtitle, or an author's note/dedication.)
  • Read SS Textbook p. 218-221 and complete Workbook p. 134-136.
  • Practice your Quizlet set for Lesson 14 and for Lesson 15.  Consider submitting them to our class on Quizlet.  The class join code is here.  We will have a quiz on Lesson 14 soon, so study your Quizlet set & those of your classmates.  A silly question or two is okay, but please be respectful to me, your classmates, and the cultures we are studying.
  • Make sure you are able to log in to TCI social studies using Clever.  If there are any issues with logins or WiFi, email me at jenna_etemad-lehmer@pvusd.net.  Next week, we go digital!
